- Welcome to Super Conference, the largest library conference in Canada from the largest library association in Canada. Bienvenue! Aaniin!
Every year, Super Conference delivers and exciting and stimulating package of education, networking, and social gathering that makes it the place to be for library professionals of all types. If you're like me, you'll wish there were five of you so you could be everywhere at once!
This year's theme is "All in.", a concept that alludes to the inclusiveness and diversity that out profession strives toward. While it'a a term that is often used in the realm of gambling, it means so much more to us. People tend to think of the library world as one that is afraid of risk, safe, insular. Our challenge this year is to prove that this is not true, and to take it to the next level.
Here are some of the ways we are "All in.".
-We are committed and passionate
-We take risks and look to the future
-We serve everyone who needs us
-We are inclusive and diverse
-We are needed!
The 2017 Super Conference has been designed to invoke that passion and that welcoming spirit in many ways, from questioning our commitment to social equity, to giving all participants a voice, to staring down the future and daring it to say that libraries are no longer relevant.
None of this would be possible without our crack team of planners, volunteers, staff session presenters and conveners, especially our conference co-chairs, Richard Reid and Emily Burns.
On behalf of the entire Super Conference team, I hope you enjoy your experience of feeling "All in." with your colleagues.
