Klukas co-founded and is the Chief Creative Officer for MakeFashion, a wearable tech nonprofit that brings technology and high fashion to the runway. This talk will explore the origins of the creative technology movement, the communities that fuel it, the "makerspace" movement and how libraries can build their own creative spaces, and how libraries can support how information and skills are sourced and shared. School libraries are at the intersection of the arts and sciences. Traditionally, the fields of STEM are often placed in opposition to creative fields including fine art, fashion, and design. However. the role of "Creative Technologists" has emerged as a sought-out role in leading tech companies. The design process, and learning about the necessary failure inherent in prototyping are all part of the conditions necessary for creativity to flourish.
