TL11.1_v5 The Teaching Librarian Volume 11, no. 1 17 CChhaannggiinngg ttiimmeess,, CChhaannggiinngg ddiirreeccttiioonnss Bob Dylan once sang "Thetimes they are a-chang-ing." In the Peel District School Board this is certainly the case. As with many other boards in Ontario, Peel had been slowly losing school library support over time. Each year seemed to bear more and more cutbacks, especially to both instructional and technical support at the board level. This has had a strong impact on both sec- ondary and elementary level teacher-librarians. This loss of support did not deter Peel's teacher-librarian associations. They continued to meet on a monthly basis and set up their own professional development sessions and sup- port mechanisms. Nor did they give up at the board level. Association executives continued to send e-mails and write let- ters to superintendents and trustees. Their message about the importance of library support and of the teacher-librarian as an educational leader was consistent. @ y ou r lib ra ry ™ COPING WITH CRISIS Marilyn Willis
