TL11.1_v5 22 Ontario School Library Association Information will be found at the Web site under Committees. Many members of IASL also belong to the School Library Section of IFLA: International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions. These two asso- ciations collaborate on many pro- jects, using different channels to get the message across to deci- sion-makers in developing coun- tries. Information Literacy is a major focus for IASL activities. The intention is to help Ministries of Education appreciate the need for quality school library services as a key component in the implemen- tation of the curriculum. In some countries this is a new concept. In others IL is a growing movement. The need to involve local stake- holders and parents in this move- ment is vital. Each of the Regional Directors is encouraged to work with the national and provincial associations to help get the IL message to the total com- munity. Sandra Hughes is the Regional Director for Canada. As each school moves to implement the components of a quality school library program, we will all become stronger locally, national- ly, and internationally. Consider joining IASL today, and help the developing countries of the world benefit from your interest, your information, and your willingness to share. Another meaning for the acronym IASL is: Individuals Associate Share (develop) Leadership. We invite you to be part of the team.
