HAPPENING IN THE LIBRARY WORLD Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) Report on Accessible Media (ROAM) OCUL is pleased to announce the release of ROAM, the Report on Accessible Media, now available for download on the OCUL website. ROAM is the result of a number of months research into the delivery of accessible media at Ontario universities. It was produced by the Ontario Council of University Libraries with support from the Government of Ontario. The report includes: An environmental scan including current practices, legal framework and future trends Technology workflows and methodologies Questions and some answers for libraries about accessible media provision Options for libraries to provide accessible collections A directory of commercial and crowd-sourced services specializing in accessible media production Best practices and suggested resources Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Bertha Bassam Lesture On Mar. 11, the iSchool and Faculty of Information Alumni Association (FIAA) invite you to a special 50th Anniversary of the Bertha Bassam Lecture, delivered by a passionate advocate for libraries, Syracuse University's R. David Lankes. This lecture will examine the value of librarians dedicated to improving communities, not simply informing them. From the riots in Ferguson, to the Arab Spring, we see the value of librarians throwing off the mask of objective curator and adopting the role of change agent.
