2/24/2020 December Newsletter https://ola.informz.ca/informzdataservice/onlineversion/pub/bWFpbGluZ0luc3RhbmNlSWQ9NjIzNjE5 3/7 Clarifying if or how the new organization will defend and uphold the value of our professional roles such as Librarians, Library Technicians, and Teacher Librarians. The need for more clarity about the voting structure and how this would work (currently presented as one vote per member at the board table, but multiple votes at the AGM depending on size of the association). The recognition that while OLA needs to have a voice on national issues via a new federation of library associations, we must balance that work with local and provincial efforts. We must not lose the ability to champion for school, rural, small and First Nation libraries. A willingness to pay a slightly higher membership fee to enable OLA to pay to join, with a smaller percentage of respondents cautioning against an increase. The CLA working group is gathering all responses to the various surveys across Canada with a view to refining the plan for the proposed federation of library associations. We'll be sure to keep you updated! COMING UP @ EDUCATION INSTITUTE Registration Open for NEW Education Institute Sessions! The Winter Calendar will be released at the end of this month. Stay tuned!
