And thankfully, for the broader Canadian library sector, he decided that The Partnership, Canada's Network of Provincial and Territorial Library Associations could be the platform for this. I speak for my colleagues at the Ontario Library Association when I say that when we first met Lou 6 years ago, we were determined that if we could not have Lou in our own province, that we would somehow find a way to keep him connected to us. Fortunately, Lou recognized the potential of The Partnership, and after his two-year term as APLA representative, continued his contributions in a variety of capacities including secretary, chair of the Continuing Education Certification program, chair of the Education Institute, chair of the Communications Committee and by hosting mentoring round tables at the Super Conference. Lou continued to support The Partnership even after his diagnoses. It was incredibly meaningful for The Partnership members and the OLA staff when Lou joined us this year at the January meeting and the OLA Super Conference. It was a testament to the respect and deep appreciation Lou had for his colleagues. Kind, funny, smart and incredibly generous - Lou, we will so miss you. The library world has lost a shining star."
