In honour of Volunteer Appreciation Week, the Ontario Library Association would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of our volunteers for their hard work and dedication to our events, programs, initiatives, projects, publications, divisional councils, the Board, and the Association. The OLA is successful because of our volunteers. Their dedication and hard work has helped to make the Ontario Library Association a leading contributor in promoting the importance of libraries in our communities and keeping them as a relevant dialogue to suit the ever-changing needs of our society. As you know, there are many components to successful events and programs. Without special people like our many volunteers, who offer their time and dedication, we could not function. The OLA has benefited from a wide range of volunteer sources. Some of these groups include our OLA Board Members, Divisional Councils, Forest of Reading Steering and Selection Committees, Super Conference Planning Team, Publications, Events (Signature/Divisional) and our wide range of Committees. OLA members participated in the pre- budget consultations and communicated how libraries help Ontarians succeed, and the need for school library funding allocations to be fully spent on libraries at the board level.
