We are excited to announce a new addition to the Forest of Reading! We are consolidating our two school-aged non-fiction programs, the Silver Birch Non-Fiction Award and the Red Maple Non-Fiction Award, into one award program - the Yellow Cedar Award! Details of the new award programs are as follows: • A curated list of 10 non-fiction titles • The list will targeted for Grade 5-8 (Silver Birch Express does have 5 Non-Fiction titles as part of their list geared at Grade 3-4 or the reluctant reader in Grade 5-6). • This Award will be given at the annual Festival of Trees in Toronto every May. • The nominated titles will be announced with the other school-aged programs in October. • This award will replace the Silver Birch Non-Fiction and Red Maple Non-Fiction lists.
