On Tuesday, the Community Services Committee voted to direct staff to seek two corporate sponsors to share in the purchase of a pair of new careâ€"Aâ€"van vehicles. These would replace two aging buses brought into the Oakville Transit fleet in 1986 and 1987. The new vehicles â€" to be purâ€" chased in 1994 and 1995 â€" are expected to cost about $120,000 each. Each is eligible for a 50% subâ€" sidy from the province, leaving $60,000 to be shared by the Town and a corporate sponsor. "We are suggesting the Town acquire the second type of vehicle which has the versatility for use in either careâ€"Aâ€"van or Community Bus services and possibly in lightly patronized conventional services," said coâ€"ordinator of special services Roy McEwen.
