he 7th Annual 5km Run For [ Kids benefiting National Tay _ Sachs and Allied Diseases will be held Monday, Sept. 6th at Sharkey‘s on the Water in Oakville. In addition to the 5km race for adults there is a 1km race for children aged six to 12. The children‘s race will follow the completion of the adult‘s race. Fun and entertainment at Summerfest Opening ceremonies take place at 11 a.m., the time the pony rides begin and the craft tables â€" flea market open. There‘s face painting at 11:30 The adult race begins at 10:30 a.m. at Sharkey‘s on the Water, 111 Forsythe St., with the registration desk opening at 8:30 a.m. Registration forms can be picked up in advance at most downtown banks, local sports stores, Town of Oakville recreation centres and Sharkey‘s on the Water. GIC, Young Drivers of Canada driving lessons, propane barbecue, camera, tenâ€" nis racquet, a night at SportsDomes, Blue Jays tickets, table lamp, limited edition prints, Mickey Mouse teleâ€" phone, sweaters, stereo clock radio casette player, weekend for two at Howard Johnson‘s, gold bracelet, proâ€" grammable thermostat, vintage radio, energy efficient gift basket, Oakville Place gift basket, mountain bike, and children‘s playhouse. Tay Sachs and the more than 100 allied diseases are a group of rare genetâ€" ic disorders that primarily affect young children â€" and tragically, are always fatal. There is no known treatment or cure. New this year is a Photography Contest sponsored by Zoom In Oneâ€" Hour Photo. _ Amateur .phoâ€" tographers may enter any photo(s) taken during Summerfest at the store. Funds raised by NTSAD are used to support parent networking programs, to help ease the fear, uncertainty and stress of families who are coping with their dying child.
