As it turned out, however, the suspect was known to the person whose name was given and this Sunday a man was arrested in conâ€" nection with the case. He is scheduledto appear in Oakville Court August 31. Beware of quick change scam artist The idea behind the ploy, police explained, is to confuse a salesclerk enough so that they give the crook more change than they‘re entitled to. On Monday at around 9:45 p.m. a man pulled the scam at the Esso gas bar at Speers and Bronte Roads. Afterwards the innocent party swore an affidavit that he had absoâ€" lutely nothing to do with the inciâ€" dent. He then went to the strip mall across the street and did it again at the Cop Shop Cafe: and Adults Only Video. The suspect is described as male white, scruffy in appearâ€" ance, 23 or 24 years of age with long brown hair, a moustache and about five days growth of beard. He was seen with a wellâ€" dressed white female, about 23 years of age, tall and slim with long wavy blond hair. The pair was seen leaving the scene in a 1990 or 91 fourâ€"door Chevy Cavalier. On Oct. 25, 1991 a man was stopped for a routine traffic violaâ€" tion at Dorval Drive and Wyecroft Road. He gave the officer a false name and address and as a result another person was ticketed for the offence. The paperwork made its way through the court system and a conâ€" viction was eventually registered. Police are on the lookout for a man who ran a "quick change" scam at three local businesses Monday. Mounties aren‘t the only ones who always get their man: a driver who lied in connection with a trafâ€" fic violation was arrested by Halton Regional Police this week â€" almost two years after the fact. Obstruct justice arrest made two years after occurrence According to _ Halton Regional Police, the home was entered through an unlocked door between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. Jewellry, liquor, a microwave and a leather jacket were taken. Some Dunedin Road resiâ€" dents wish they had locked their door Sunday after thieves walked in and stole $8,000 worth of their property. Unlocked door led to costly burglary
