OPTICIA NS Lily Crawford 175 Lakeshore Rd. E. Tel: §45â€"3621 OPTICIAN @ Is there a difference between 1 hour optical service @ and the more traditional optical dispensary? The first priority in providing quality eyecare is giving A ©@ careful, exacting attention to each patient‘s individual ©@ needs â€" not trying to make their eyeglasses in an hour. In our office, every patient is treated as a unique individual, not as a "mass consumer‘". Another important difference is that we do not, own or operate our own laboratory. We use a top quality outside laboratory where every pair of glasses have been inspected at every step of manufacture. Any glasses received from the laboratory that are not exactly to our specifications are returned immediately to be made over. Since we don‘t own the laboratory, there is never a temptation to use lenses that are even slightly off from our specifications. Another important difference is that the frame you end up receiving is in most cases specifically ordered in for you to ensure you end up with the best possible fitting eyeglasses. Does this mean you have to wait 3 or 4 weeks for your new glasses as some optical chains claim in their advertising? Absolutely not! The laboratories we use provide their finest quality, customâ€"made lenses in just a few days, not several weeks. So, you see, it is possible to get the finest quality eyewear without waiting weeks â€"AND WE PROMISE MORE THAN 1 HOUR‘S WORK WILL GO INTO MAKING YOUR NEW GLASSES! A e Migraines account for about 10â€"20% of e headaches in adults. 17% of adult Canadians suffer from migraines. Some aggravating factors that will precipitate migraines can be avoided. These include stress, emotions, changes in sleep patterns, exercise, alcohol and excess caffeine use. Oral contraceptives may also worsen or precipitate a migraine headache. Nonâ€"prescription analgesics are available for relief. Patients can take 650 mg at the onset of a headache and every 4 hours thereafter as needed to help control the pain of a migraine. Ibuprofen can also be used if simple analgesics fail. . If a migraine headache persists consult your doctor. GROUP people properties inc. Betty Thompson, Sales Rep. Zmonh Sgsrgice Road Telephone: §44â€"5000 REALTOR How do I choose the best agent for selling my home? Q: A e _ If you know you must be out of your present ® _ home within the next six months, it is imperative to choose the right agent. Look for a well qualified, experienced, enthusiastic person who has a good track record â€" an added bonus would be an agent who has experience in the neighbourhood. The bottom line in appointing an agent is what that agent will do to get your home sold as quickly as possible. Have the agent give you a listing presentation. Prepare pertinent questions ahead of time. Afterwards, assess the presentation. Was it well planned, precise and specific about what he/she will do to sell your home, how he/she will market it and how he/she will, price it right to sell in the shortest possible time? Ask for references from other vendors for whom the agent has worked. Evaluate how well your questions were answered. Determine from the presentation if this is the person you can trust to sell one of your most valuable assets. Hopefully, you will choose an agent who will do an excellent job as opposed to choosing one for some other reason. Keep in mind that even when you choose an excellent agent, your home will not sell if it is not priced correctly in today‘s market. Dr. McAlister Abbe}:IChimpmctic 1500 Henitage Way Oakville §25â€"9529 JCHIROPRACTOR Q e I‘m always tired and a friend suggested I ® see a Chiropractor. What can Chimpractic possibly do for fatigue? The cause of chrontc fatigue could be any e number of things. Since Chiropractors deal | with the spine and central nervous system, obviously | the first thing I would check is to see if you had a balanced or unbalanced spinal column. An unbalanced spinal column may only be "a little off | balance", due to a short leg. However, if you factor in that it is carrying your head (which weighs about as much as a bowling ball), that "little imbalance" can become a source of fatigue and great discomfort. It‘s my job to find out whether there is in fact an imbalance and to correct and align the spine. It‘s no different than the tires on your car. If the tires are bald, and haven‘t been aligned, they‘re under an incredible amount of stress from the weight of the car. How long can those tires last? How safe are they? Think of your body as the vehicle that gets you through life. Whether you‘re a Ferrari or a Volkswagen doesn‘t your body deserve the best care you can give it? * SECURITIES INC. [Raymond Jackson Telephone: 8494700 Is the risk to earn more really worth it? o A ©® _ Let us agree on what we mean by risk. A local © _ Canadian stamp cost 8¢ in 1973, compared to 43¢+GST today ie. 5x more over 20 years. An average house in Toronto, in 1973 cost $40,605, compared to $214,971 today ie. 5x more over 20 yrs. Are you prepared or preparing to pay even 2x more to live when you have to live off your capital at retirement? This seems to be the BIGGEST MOST PROBABLE RISK ... THE LOSS OF YOUR PURCHASING POWER. So, it seems that to risk more for growth to preserve or increase our purchasing power, we must eally understand the tradeâ€"off. Remember, investing is to own assets, good businesses that make the economy grow, create wealth, jobs and happiness in which we all share. Ownership of great companies, known as the equities market, is risky and volatile in the short term. But in the long run, it‘s the greatest creator of real wealth that‘s ever designed. One of the safest ways of doing this is to own well managed and carefully selected mutual funds. Call me I look forward to assisting you. Who could have told you that Templeton International Stock Fund would have grown your $25,000 to $35,292 from only 1989? Or that AIC Advantage Fund would have grown your $25,000 to $41,658 from only 1989? Call me I look forward to assisting you. * Scott Harvie Telephone: §45â€"8720 345 Lakeshore Rd. E. Suite 512 OAKVILLE ORTHOTICS The bottom of my heels are extremely painful when I get out of bed in the morning. The pain usually subsides after several minutes, but will return later in the day. What is causing this pain, and can it be treated? It sounds like you‘re suffering from a condition known as ‘plantar e Jascitis" (pronounced Faâ€"SHEEâ€"Iâ€"TIS). It is a common affliction of active people and people who spend a good deal of time on their feet, and affects men and women equally. In simple terms, plantar fascitis is an inflammation of the bottom, front part of the heel bone. The plantar fascia is a tight, fibrous band of tissue that courses the bottom of the foot from the heel to the toes. Its main functions are to support the arch of the foot and prevent excessive pronation of the foot; and, herein lies the reason so many people suffer from plantar fascitis. People whose feet excessively pronate (or roll inwards at the ankle) place tremendous stress on the plantar fascia, particularly where it attaches to the heel bone. The body‘s natural reparative process can deal with this stress for a short period of time, but over the thousands of foot steps a person may take during the day, the tissue cannot adapt and eventually breaks down. As the process continues, a bony spur may develop due to the inflammation and the excessive stresses at the junction of the heel bone and plantar fascia. However, it is not the spur which causes the pain (as so many believe), but it is the inflammation of the plantar fascia. As overpronation of the foot is the primary culprit in the development of plantar fasciitis, treatment should be geared towards reducing the excessive pronation. First a good pair of "antiâ€"pronation" shoes should be worn. These are generally running shoes with a firm heel area and wedging in the soles to prevent excessive pronation. Secondly, orthotic devices should be prescribed. These are inserts, made from casts taken of the feet, that are worn inside the shoe to prevent excessive pronation and alleviate excessive pressure on the painful area. Following this course of treatment will, in most cases, lead to a complete resolution of the symptoms of plantar fascitis. €661 ‘z ‘mon ‘fepuns ‘puayeam 19e0q ailimeo â€" 51 To h o To o c e se e on s l s 0 T W mt S ns ce o e n 1B w Ne a o t h i ul h e S Tt e S o l c Oe i e ce O t ue e e ce on c l h ul Cl e S o t o ue c o cce e e dn To e e c l o t ie B ce o en t P i n o o e n n en ies N oi Vn Doi e o We PmR
