Local flavor to international granite symposium Canadian sculptor Uga Drava, represented locally by McLaren Barnes Gallery, is the director of an International Granite Sculpture Symposium being held in Scarborough until June 22nd. Nine artists from around the world have descended upon Scarborough to create large scale works of art in granite. They are working adjacent to the Civic Centre. At the conclusion of the event, the sculptures will be given to the City and most of them will be installed permanently around the Civic Centre. The symposium is funded through corporate donations with the City of Scarborough providing the venue and hosting the celebraâ€" tions. The stone is Stanstead Grey granite from Quebec and was donated by Rock of Ages quarry. The sculptors will be working on site during business hours on most days until June 22nd.
