Fall workshops planned for Assoc. for Bright Children What do predatory garden bugs and virtual reality have in comâ€" mon? They are both going to be explored thoroughly by curious young people at the first workâ€" shops being offered by the Association for Bright Children, Sept. 10th. The season‘s lineup of intriguâ€" ing workshops, geared to students age 7 to 16, includes such topics as Bones, Cuts and Stitches, Amazing Popsicle Bridges, Computer Insides, Model Planes and Engines, Unseen Worlds in Microscopes, Lasers in Action, Astronomy and Meteor Craters and Vet for a Day. The majority of the 72 workshops offered will be held on Saturday afternoons at a cost of $5 to $10. Workshops are led by local Peggy Duffy, president of the ‘At Risk Elderly‘ workshop project, accepts $10,000 cheque from Oakvilleâ€"Milton MP Bonnie Brown and New Horizons, Health Canada. The money will go to fund the workshop whose purpose is to have a collective group of seniors and service providers from The Town of Oakville Seniors‘ Recreation Programs, brainstorm to define what it means to be an ‘at risk‘ senior. The participants will also be asked to think about the type of programming that would be appropriate for thse individuals and make recommendations that would be useful for those workâ€" ing with the ‘at risk‘ elderly.
