Indoor playground for the young crowd. Let‘s Go Bananas a place full of fun for youngsters By NANCY ALEXANDER Special to the Beaver f your kids have been driving you Ibananas lately, maybe they‘re trying to tell you something; maybe they‘re trying to tell you they‘re overdue for a visit to Let‘s Go Bananas. Located at 490 Speers Rd., Let‘s Go Bananas is a cheerful indoor play ground that just officially opened its doors on Dec. 3rd. The playground has obviously been designed to appeal to children‘s love of color with its focus on brilliant primary colors and lively illustrations of Benny Banana, the « playground mascot. Owners Ron Benegbi and April Williams did many months of research into indoor playgrounds after first hearing of the idea from a young couple with small children. Benegbi admits that they initially laughed at the idea of running such a business, but changed their minds when they saw the concept being promoted at a franchise show. "We looked at what the franchise was offering, and we thought we could do a better job," says Benegbi. "It took us ten months of research, but we put a lot of thought into the whole concept, and we made children‘s safety our first priority." Benegbi explains that the playground is not a licenced daycare or babysitting service, but a place where mothers can bring their children for a good romp, regardless of the weather outside. Parents pay an admission fee of $6 per child and $2 for each additional child per visit. The playground is geared for children aged one:to eight, and includes plenty of Little Tykes toys for toddlers and infants, as well as a jumbo jungle gym, slides, a large ball pit, and a dressâ€"up trunk. For the comfort of parents there is a comfortable seating area where they can relax and have a cup of coffee while watching their children.
