42 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday May 5, 2006 Ruchika Kumar advances to national squash quarter-finals Oakville's Ruchika Kumar rallied to advance to the quarter-finals of the Dunlop Canadian Squash Championships in Toronto. Kumar, the ninth seed for the national championship, dropped the first two games of her match against seventh-seeded Seanna Keating. Keating won 9-4, 11-9, but Kumar came back to take the next three (9-2, 9-1, 9-8). Kumar, a 21-year-old who won the Canadian junior title in 2002, had a first-round bye. The quarter-finals were scheduled to be played yesterday (Thursday), with the semis set for today and the final tomorrow. SPORTSBRIEFS Kumar's sister, Neha, won her opening-round match easily, 9-0, 9-2, 9-3. However, the 18-year-old, who finished second at the Canadian juniors last week, had the unenviable task of playing top-seed Runa Reta of Ottawa in the round of 16. Reta won the match 9-0, 9-2, 9-1.
