The Coyotes lost 7-4, finishing their four-game preliminary-round schedule with a 2-2 mark. As of yesterday afternoon, it was unclear whether Oakville qualified for the playoff portion of the tournament. If the Oakville Buzz is still sore at the Mimico Mountaineers for ruining its perfect season, it now has the perfect opportunity for revenge. The Buzz and Mountaineers will meet in the third round of the Ontario Lacrosse Association Junior B playoffs, a series scheduled to begin Friday at Maplegrove Arena. Mimico defeated Oakville 15-9 last month in the most recent meeting between the teams, the Buzz's lone misstep in a 19-1 regularseason showing. "They're the ones that blemished our record," said Oakville head coach Glen Little. "We'll have to be at our best to get through." The Buzz earned its spot in the East Conference final with a 3-0 sweep of the Scarborough Saints, finishing off the series with a 11-7 victory Friday at Maplegrove. Drew Petkoff continued to flourish in his new offensive role, scoring four times and adding an assist. The hulking forward finished the series with seven goals and 10 points. Little said changing Petkoff from a transitional player to a full-floor contributor has challenged the former OHLer. "He's got the ugliest stick in lacrosse and it's a standard team joke," the coach laughed. "You think (he) is not an offensive juggernaut, but guess what? Maybe that's what is screwing everybody up because he doesn't look (like a sniper) but all he does is do the job."
