Hawtin wins four Paralympic medals Melanie Hawtin won four medals at the Paralympic world junior track and field championships in Dublin, Ireland earlier this month. Hawtin won her first medal with a second-place finish in the women's open 200-metre wheelchair sprint, helping Canada sweep the medals. Hawtin followed that up with a pair of silver medals the next day. She finished second to Saskatoon's Keira-Lyn Frie in the 100m, finishing in a time of 19.14 seconds. Frie won in 18.46 seconds. Hawtin, who won a gold medal at the Canada Games in Regina last year, collected her third silver at worlds in the 800m by turning in a time of 2:17.00, finishing eight seconds behind Frie. Hawtin wrapped up the competition on Sunday with a bronze medal in the 400m. She finished in a time of 1:06, behind Frie and Poland's Teresa Starcez.
