Deaths McCULLOCH, Michelle Freda Primrose (nee Lowe) 1946-2006. Just shy of her 60th birthday, surrounded by family at Kingston General Hospital on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 after a heroic battle against ovarian cancer. Originally of England, Michelle met her lifelong sweetheart and adoring husband of 38 years, Robert (Bob) McCulloch in Montreal. Mother, friend, teacher and banker to heartbroken daughter Jennifer and son Richard and "children-in-law" Matthew Denomme and Stefanie Radicioni. Affectionate Nana to her special 2-year-old grandson Nathaniel. Sister to Paul Lowe and Simone Crabb. Sister-in-law to Garry and Pam McCulloch, Janice Lowe and Graeme Crabb. Auntie Michelle to Darren, Giselle, Corey, Tricia, Valerie and Kevan. Pre-deceased by her mother Beryl Lowe. Will be missed by her father John Lowe and mother-in-law Patricia McCulloch. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on November 21, 1911. "Bim" received his BA (1934), MA (1936) and Ph.D. (1947) from the University of Toronto, where he studied under Etienne Gilson and Jacques Maritain, leading Thomistic scholars. Bim's area of expertise was medieval philosophy, specializing in the teachings of St. Thomas Aquinas. From 1939 until 1946, he served in the Canadian Army. He taught Philosophy at the University of Toronto, and universities and colleges in the Eastern US, including Yale University, St. Joseph's College and Wesleyan, as well as contributing to leading journals and delivering papers at conferences. He served on the executive council of the American Catholic Philosophical Association from 1956-59 and as its President in 1960. He was a member of the American Maritain Association. His biography is contained in Who's Who in America. Upon their return to Canada in 1985, Bim and his wife, Margie, taking up residence in Oakville, and became active members of St. Andrews Parish. Bim was a third degree knight in the Knights of Columbus, Marian Council #3881. He is predeceased by his brother, John Cuthbertson Walton; his sister, Patricia Glausser; and his wife of 57 years, Margaret MacDonald (Margie). He is mourned by his daughter, Mary Ryan of Oakville; his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Laurie Walton of Sault Ste. Marie; his granddaughters, Melanie Ryan, Adrianne, Marcella and Joceline Walton, and his great-grandson, Vito. Friends will be received at Ward's Funeral Chapel, 109 Reynolds Street, Oakville, on Wednesday, August 30, between the hours of 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Prayers will be offered at 7:00 pm. The funeral Mass will take place at St. Andrews Church, 47 Reynolds Street, Oakville, on Thursday, August 31 at 9:30 am. Immediately following the Mass, the family will leave for St. Michael's Cemetery, Orillia, where Bim will be laid to rest beside his beloved Margie.
