I've never seen prices so low. Why? The warm weather has kept us from thinking about beaches, and, as many of you know, effective this week, all of us have to have an up to date passport to enter the U.S. by air. Always innovators the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and the Disneyland Resort in California decided to encourage us to visit them by creating Disney's Passport to Dreams booklet. Disney worked closely with Passport Canada to design the booklet which will help you get a passport. They've included where to get the forms, what you need to know about passport pictures, and how easy it is to apply online. They're rolling out Mickey and his welcome mat to encourage us to come this year; we're a huge market for them and they've come up with special offers to encourage us to come. We haven't had much snow to play in, but Newfoundland has. I was there one February and had a great time, and you can too. Located on the banks of the Humber River, the Humber Valley Resort comprises more than 100 individual upscale and well-appointed, spacious chalets, each on at least an acre of land. It is surrounded by pristine countryside perfect for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, and is just a short drive from Marble Mountain's groomed slopes or the thrills of CAT-skiing. The area brags an average of five metres of snow a year, and because it is still relatively undiscovered you'll love the short lift lines, great wildlife viewing and acres of untouched snow. Staff at Humber Valley Resort can help you plan all kinds of optional activities, whether the goal is to get a firstclass adrenaline rush or to gently introduce the kids to the joys of skiing. There is also ice-climbing up a frozen waterfall, back country skiing (complete with an alpine picnic) and CAT-skiing on over 7,000 acres are all on the menu. Qualified guides and instructors are available to assist in all sports. Or if your idea of winter sports is as simple as tobogganing, Humber Valley can help with that too. When the sun has set, you can relax in your private hot tub or in front of the fireplace. Each is equipped with a gourmet kitchen and the resort also has its own restaurants and pub. Rates from early February to midApril (peak snow season in western Newfoundland) start at $199 for two nights at Humber (per person based on four sharing a three bedroom chalet), or $499 for five nights.
