www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday January 31, 2007 - 5 Cab driver helps clip credit card fraud suspects An alert cab driver is being credited with helping Halton Regional Police arrest three people in connection with numerous credit card frauds. Police said the cab driver contacted police after he saw three people removing large amounts of cigarettes from The Petro Canada gas station kiosk on Upper Middle Road and Eighth Line at 4:45 a.m. Sunday. Police responded to the tip and found $3,400 worth of cigarettes had been purchased from the kiosk with the use of fraudulent credit cards. Investigating officers seized nine forged credit cards. The investigation is continuing with a search warrant being sought for a motel in the City of Toronto where police say three suspects were staying. Ragusangar Nadarajah, 20, Toronto, faces one count of fraud under $5,000, nine counts of possession of forged credit cards and two counts of using forged credit cards; Waqias Ahmed, 22, Toronto, faces one count of fraud under $5,000, nine counts of possession of forged credit cards, two counts of using forged credit cards, one count of obstructing police and one count of breach of recognizance. A 17 year old girl from Oakville is charged with one count of fraud under $5,000, nine counts of possession of forged credit cards and two counts of using forged credit cards. The Halton Regional Police Service continues to investigate this incident. Duo accused of stealing $25,000 from parking meters Halton Regional Police have charged two men in connection with parking meter thefts and damage that have cost the Town of Oakville more than $25,000. Between Jan 1214, police say more than 120 meters were damaged while the accused were trying to steal the coin. Charged with mischief over $5,000, theft over $5,000, breach probation and possession of an instrument used to break into coin operated devices is Brandon Ronald Grego, 29, of no fixed address. Also charged with breach probation, possession of an instrument used to break into coin operated devices, 46 counts of theft under $5,000 and 46 counts of mischief under $5,000 is Nikola John Stertic, 28, of Toronto.
