www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday March 3, 2007 - 29 At OTMH New game promotes breakfast To celebrate National Nutrition Month, Breakfast for Learning has launched a new interactive board game for kids that teaches the value of a nutritious diet. Staying Alive! Lost in the Mountains is an adventure game aimed at eight to 12 year olds, where survival depends on making wise food choices. Healthy foods such as vegetables and whole grains will help players accumulate the energy points required to survive while also showing kids the connection between nutrition and its positive impact on how they learn, work and play. BFL is the leading national non-profit organization in Canada dedicated to funding community-based student nutrition programs. Working to ensure that every child in Canada attends school well-nourished and ready to learn, BFL provides funds, nutrition education resources and research, and advocacy for student nutrition programs across the country. "Studies show kids who are well-nourished perform better in school," said Carol Dombrow, Registered Dietitian with BFL. The board game and playing cards are available free while quantities last. This condition, which occasionally produces brief disturbances in the electrical functions of the brain, and is characterized by sudden, brief seizures, is epilepsy. March is Epilepsy Awareness Month in Canada and while drugs exist to control seizure problems, they don't work for 40 per cent of Canadians with epilepsy. As a result, these patients have to consider surgical removal of brain lesions, or scar tissues, that cause seizures. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRIs) used in hospitals across the country help neurologists and neurosurgeons find the lesions. The problem is that it's not always easy to find these lesions in standard MRIs. But, Dr. Andrea Bernasconi at the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI) has created a computer program that helps makes it easier to detect seizure-causing brain lesions. -- Submitted by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. · Registered Physiotherapists Brian Empey, CAT(C), BHScPT Karen Neill, MPhtySt Dodie McLenahan, BHScPT · Registered Massage Therapists · Certified Athletic Therapists · Acupuncture · Orthotics · Laser Therapy · Sports Injuries · Pilates · No Referral Necessary · Open Evenings and Saturdays · Walk-Ins & New Patients Welcome · Private Treatment Rooms 2530 Sixth Line (South of Dundas) www.beinmotion.ca 905-257-1904 Sore Feet?
