12 - The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday March 7, 2007 www.oakvillebeaver.com Getting ready for relay So far 58 teams have registered for Oakville's sixth annual Relay for Life event set for overnight June 1-2 at Appleby College. The Canadian Cancer Society Oakville Unit hosted its annual kick off event on Feb. 28. Team captains, old and new, were there to find out what's new for 2007 -- and to register teams. This year's major sponsors include: Scotiabank (Event Sponsor), AGF Funds (Survivor Sponsor), Appleby College (Site Sponsor), The Oakville Beaver (Print Media Sponsor), Wave 94.7 FM (Radio Media Sponsor) and Longos (Food Sponsor). The Relay for Life is a community celebration of survival -- a tribute to the lives of loved ones and a night of fun, friendship and fundraising to beat cancer. The inspiring event involves teams of ten or more people participating in an overnight, noncompetitive relay. Participants take turns walking, running or strolling around the track at Appleby College, event host. Oakville's Relay For Life will be Friday, June 1 at 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. Saturday, June 2. To register a team or find out more about Relay For Life, call the Oakville Unit at 905-845-5231 or visit www.cancer.ca/relay. New for 2007 will be the theme of celebrating the caregiver. The event will recognize the people -- spouses, relatives, friends, neighbours, doctors, nurses, even pets -- who support people on their journey with cancer. This year will also see Relay for Life Dream Teams. Each team that can raise a minimum of $300 per team member, a minimum of $3,000 per team and sell a minimum of three luminaries per team member by Thursday, May 24, will qualify as a Dream Team. Each Dream Team will be given special team recognition on event night. PET rofile P KIZMET PRODUCT REVIEWS HALTI TRAINING LEASH "Available in two widths, this leash combines strength & practicality with common sense styling. The nylon length is comfortable to hold, while providing the option to work hands free. A highly recommended schools." Hi, my name is Kizmet! I'm a 1 yr old crazy Bugg. I should call myself the official toy tester for Ren's, `cause if they have it, I've tried it! I absolutely love my Everlasting Treat Ball: it's great for stuffing, FEATURING my mom loves that it's easy to clean, and it's tough! When I'm done playing with my ball, I like to wrestle with my Celebrity Fleece Sheep. I've had it forever, and it still looks great. Plus it grunts, can't beat that! When I go to Ren's to pick up the latest new test item, my mom loves to use my Halti training lead. I can be a bit of a handful, so she really likes its durable yet soft nylon. And she can go hands free (all the better to hold my things for me). Can't wait to see what she buys me next! CELEBRITY FLEECE SHEEP "A favorite here at Ren's, this durable fleece plush makes grunting noises when squeezed. Soft enough for your pup, but large TRIPLE CROWN EVERLASTING TREAT BALL "Made of soft, yet durable puncture resistant materials, it will hold up to even the toughest chewers, and the unique design allows it to wobble and roll erratically. It's great to use for preventing destructive boredom behaviors or to simply keep your dog happily occupied." Hwy #25 Store Hours: Mon. to Fri. 8am-8pm, Sat. 9am-5pm, Sun. 10am-5pm Trafalgar Rd.
