Boats and Birches opens at OAS John Van Der Hart's Boats and Birches opens tonight at the Oakville Art Society. It's an exhibition of original watercolours by Van Der Hart, an extreme sailor whose love of sport is reflected in his work. Canadian landscapes and the forces of weather and storms are among the subjects he tackles on canvas. Van Der Hart has an art gallery and studio on Eighth Line in Oakville, which became famous under the name Art in the Country. His paintings hang in many private and public collections, and have been shown in the U.S., Japan, The Netherlands and Australia.
