The Oakville incident was only one of a series of raids that were carried out by police against alleged members and associates of the Hell's Angels, the world's largest biker gang, and the smaller lesser-known Bacchus Motorcycle Club. The raids followed an 18-month investigation the police have dubbed PROJECT DEVELOP, which were carried out by local police forces, RCMP, OPP and the Canadian Border Services Agency. At the time of the raids Wednesday, police were releasing little information about arrests, what caused the explosions residents heard or even if their raids were successful. "We're still operational, maybe not specifically in your neighbourhood, but in other areas of the country, so we're very limited in terms of what we can share right now," said OPP Sgt. Bob Paterson. "There's a Biker Enforcement Unit, that's a multi-jurisdictional force, that is active in a major investigation."
