The event will take place at Acton District High School, 21 Cedar Rd., Acton, beginning at 7:30 p.m. More than 500 parents, principals, trustees, teachers and school administrators are expected to take part in recognizing outstanding student achievement at this event. In total, 93 students will be honoured during the evening. Driver dies in crash Police suspect medical reasons are behind a fatal car crash that blocked the eastbound lanes of the QEW at Winston Churchill Boulevard for more than two hours on Monday. Police report that at about 2:45 p.m. a man -- driving a black Pontiac Grand Prix -- was travelling on the QEW towards Toronto when, for unknown reasons, the car veered to the left. It struck a guard rail before swerving back across the highway where it sideswiped a white Toyota Camry. Both cars came to a stop just west of Winston Churchill Boulevard. "The person in the Grand Prix, a man about 50-years-old, was found with vital signs absent," said OPP Sgt. Cam Woolley, who was among the emergency personnel responding to the accident. The man in the Grand Prix was taken from the scene to OakvilleTrafalgar Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. "Police and the coroner suspect the cause of death may have been medical and not related to the collision," said Woolley. The relatively minor nature of the collision lends credence to this theory. "There was not significant damage," said Woolley. "The air bags didn't even go off." The accident caused huge delays for commuters as police shut down the eastbound lanes of the QEW from 2:49 p.m. until 4:50 p.m. while they conducted an investigation of the crash. Those riding in the white Toyota Camry received only minor injuries. The name of the deceased male has not been released.
