The Fury blanked Erin Mills A 2-0 in the final of the Erin Mills Eagles all-star/select competition, earning the championship. Leo Leone and Jace Kotsopoulos scored for Oakville and Alec Capstick recorded the shutout, his third of the fivegame tournament. Erin Mills A had downed the Fury 2-0 in preliminary-round action, scoring both its goals in the final minutes. Oakville finished the tournament with a 4-1 record, outscoring its opposition 21-4. The team also posted wins over Mississauga (4-0), Erin Mills All-Stars (12-0) and Erin Mills B (3-2). Nicholas Jedryk and Leone led the Fury with five goals each in the tournament, while Kotsopoulos netted four. Also tallying for Oakville were Keven Mastri (two), Dragan Andic, Christian Radjic, Oliver Chau, Kevin Costin and Luke Carenza. Other members of the team are Devon Base, Tanner Davies, Stephen Perks, Michael Cookish, Alan Russel, Craig Mackie, Luke De Rango and Alexander Zis. "I am so proud of these boys for coming back from their loss against Erin Mills A and playing tough and smart in the final," said Fury head coach John Sousa, who is assisted by Dragan Andic. The Fury followed up that tournament win with another golden effort at the Toronto Cup 2007, held last weekend in Markham. Oakville posted five straight wins to secure the title. HAPPY DAYS: Members of the Oakville Fury under-10 boys' soccer team were a happy bunch after winning the championship at the Erin Mills Eagles all-star/select tournament recently. The team also won gold at the Toronto Cup last weekend. Rockets blast off at Robbie International tournament A 2-1 win over the Clarkson Comets lifted the Oakville Rockets girls' under-16 team to the championship at the recent Robbie International Soccer Tournament. The Rockets, who had downed Clarkson 1-0 in round-robin action earlier, also defeated the London Supernova Red 3-1 and tied the Barrie Spirit 2-2 during the competition. Members of the team, sponsored by WSC Insurance Group, include Emmi Soeder, Sam McLaren, Chrissy Whitman, Brittany Connor, Alycia Walker, Corinne Smith, Danielle McLean, Logan BishopCurrey, Meghan Hughes, Kate Seagrove, Kristen Thompson, Lindsay McDonald, Kayla Goodhoofd, Laurel Greig, Keri Morrison, Krista Michie and Heather Thompson. David Bishop and Alan McLaren coach the team, Cathy Walker is the trainer and Ian Smith is the manager. HIGH-FLYING ROCKETS: The Oakville under-16 girls' Rockets went 3-0-1 at the Robbie International Soccer Tournament, earning gold with a 2-1 win over Clarkson in the championship game.
