By David Lea OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF Police are taking an apparent teenaged prank very seriously after homemade chlorine bombs were thrown at several residences in the West Oaks Trials area earlier this week. Between July 23-July 24 police were notified of three incidents in which residents were disturbed by loud bangs coming from outside their homes. Lock `em or lose those bikes Police say many stolen just to get from point A to point B "It really really irks me," said Hickey. "It's just not right." The thefts began about 10 years ago when two brand new chrome BMX bikes, which Hickey had purchased for her young children, were stolen out of her backyard. The culprit, who turned out to be a neighbourhood boy, was apprehended. "The kids themselves figured out who it was," said Hickey. With that incident settled, Hickey's family enjoyed a brief reprieve from bike theft, after leaving Oakville for about five years. However, upon their return the thefts began again. "The bike my son brought back to Oakville, he locked it up all the time, but one time he went to a store, he walked into the store and he didn't lock it up," said Hickey. "He came out and it was gone."
