4- The Oakville Beaver, Friday July 27, 2007 www.oakvillebeaver.com Police seek driver who witnessed assault Police are looking for the unwitting witness to a sexual assault that took place in Oakville early Sunday morning. At around 3 a.m. a London, Ontario woman was hitchhiking in the area of Lakeshore Road and Third Line when a passing car driven by a man stopped to pick her up. Once inside the car the woman was driven to the area of Weldon Avenue and Fourth Line where she was allegedly forced out of the vehicle and sexually assaulted on the roadway and on the front lawn of a residence. Following the attack, the man fled southbound on Fourth Line. He is described as white , possibly in his 20s, 6-foot, medium build and a tanned complexion. He had dark-brown curly hair in a ponytail, brown eyes, a goatee and was scruffy in appearance. He spoke with a slight accent and wore a white T-shirt and jeans. He was driving a white, four-door car with red cloth interior. During the assault, the victim saw another vehicle pass by. Police are seeking the driver of that vehicle who, they believe, likely unknowingly witnessed the assault. The witness is described as a white man, approximately 20 years old with a shaved head. He was driving a blue car and travelling west along Weldon Avenue. This witness is asked to call Detective Pete Lowery at 905-8254747, ext. 5239.
