We are looking for men and women with IBS-C to participate in a clinical research study of an investigational medication for the treatment of the symptoms of IBS-C. You may qualify for the study if you meet the following criteria: - Are at least 18 years of age; - Have abdominal discomfort or pain and fewer than 3 bowel movements per week, with a feeling of incomplete evacuation; - Have hard or lumpy stools or straining during a bowel movement; - Speak English fluently; - Are able to complete a daily phone questionnaire during study participation. Wednesday's event celebrates the 200th anniversary of the Act for the Abolition of the Slave Trade and is funded in part by the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration. From 4-5 p.m., join the walking tour to explore the stories and lives of the new immigrants and the people who helped them to safety. The tour ends at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts at 130 Navy St. where, from 5-6 p.m., guests will be treated to an array of Caribbean and African hors d'oeuvres, tropical punches, and a drumming performance. From 6-8:30 p.m., sit in on a symposium with guest speakers and books available for signing by authors. Speakers include internationallyacclaimed author and long-time Halton resident Lawrence Hill; historian/archeologist, Karolyn Smardz Frost; historian/dramatist, Gwen Robinson; and author and historical consultant Rosemary Sadler.
