The 14-year-old St. Thomas Aquinas student made a late surge to win the fivekilometre senior girls' race at Wednesday's D.R.E.A.M.S. Charity Invitational high school cross-country meet in Hamilton. Hennessey, who opted out of the 2.5km junior girls' race because she wanted to run a longer distance and was seeking stiffer competition, trailed St. Catharines resident Heather Stuive with 150 metres to go before taking the lead for the first time. She finished the race in a time of 18:57, 10 seconds ahead of Stuive.
