Murray-Hayes, the long-time pastor of Oakville's Maple Grove United Church, will speak on The Changing Face of Our Community. Murray-Hayes was ordained in 1975, when women weren't generally seen in the ministry. In her first congregation, MurrayHayes was the first woman to touch the communion elements and serve the sacrament, and introduced female ushers and elders. Since then, her career has included chairing committees at the highest levels of the United Church, teaching at two United Church seminaries, sitting on the editorial board of a leading journal of ministry and authoring numerous scholarly articles. In May 2006, Murray-Hayes was awarded her Doctor of Ministry degree by Princeton University. Murray-Hayes has been leading the congregation of Maple Grove United Church in east Oakville since 1987. All CFUW-Oakville general meetings are held at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1494 Wallace Rd., on the third Monday of the month, from September to April (excluding December).
