The existing Fourth Line bridge will be demolished and replaced with a new bridge structure. The new bridge will span a widened QEW and support an improved Fourth Line roadway. Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians will be directed to use alternate travel routes to access area services and bypass the closed link. Several travel corridors (Third Line, Dorval Drive) and key intersections (Fourth Line/Wyecroft Road, Wyecroft Road/Dorval Drive) have been improved in advance of this project to help mitigate some of the impacts associated with the additional traffic volumes expected along these roadways by detoured vehicles. The closure and bridge demolition are scheduled to take place as follows: · Fourth Line will be closed over the QEW for a period of one year, beginning Nov. 10. During the closure, the long-term detour route will be via the North Service Road, Wyecroft Road and Dorval Drive. · The QEW will be closed from Third Line to Dorval Drive (including the offramp Westbound to Kerr Street) from 11:45 p.m. on Nov. 10 to 9:15 a.m. on Nov. 11 to remove the existing Fourth Line bridge. During the closure, QEW traffic will be diverted to a detour route via Dorval Drive, North Service Road, South Service Road/Wyecroft Road and Third Line. Two men face 22 charges for Halton burglaries A pair of Toronto men are facing a numerous charges in connection with 22 break-ins across Halton. In May, Halton detectives noticed an increase in the number of burglaries at which thieves targeted the cash of fast food outlets. Halton Police joined a multi-jurisdictional investigation along with Toronto Police Service, York Regional Police Service, Peel Regional Police Service, Waterloo Regional Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police, which resulted in the arrests of two suspects on Saturday, Sept. 1. In total, police beleive the two men are connect to more than 200 break and enters. The Halton break-ins include four Milton burglaries, 10 Oakville burglaries and eight Burlington burglaries. The cost of all the 200 break and enters is estimated at $250,000 in lost property. Halton Detectives charged Gordon Michael Edwards, 27, and Jason Richard Phillips, 25, on Oct. 24, with 22 counts of break and enter and 22 counts of wearing a disguise in connection with the Halton break-ins. The men were held in custody for a bail hearing on Oct. 24, in Milton and remain in custody pending investigation by other police services. The Halton Regional Police Service is continuing investigate this incident.
