Seven Canadian Tire stores across the region are involved in the event, which officially gets underway on Saturday, Nov. 17. Participating Burlington stores are located at 550 Kerr St., 400 Dundas St. and 2510 Hyde Park Gate. Through the campaign, Canadian Tire money and cash donations are collected to buy toys for the Salvation Army, which distributes them to families in need. The goal is to obtain $60,000 worth of toys. Halton Honda has donated a vehicle to pick up the toys, while Halton police staff have volunteered to accept donations and talk to the public. Donors can also contribute toys and corporate donations are welcomed. The recent campaign kickoff was attended by Halton Police Chief Gary Crowell and other Halton police representatives, as well as officials from Canadian Tire and the Salvation Army.
