Temporary road closures for the 2007 Parade The 2007 Oakville Santa Claus Parade will take place on Saturday November 17th. During the Parade, the following roads and adjacent streets will be closed from 7a.m. 11 am: · Lakeshore Road from Allan St. to Kerr St. · Kerr St. from Lakeshore Rd. to Stewart St. · Stewart St. from Kerr St. to Maurice Dr. · Felan Ave. from Stewart St. to Rebecca St. · Rebecca St. from Dorval Dr. to Forsythe St. · Robinson St. from Navy St. to Allan St. The co-operation of all motorists is requested. They encourage everyone to bring at least one non-perishable food item to the Parade. Cash donations are also accepted. The Oakville Fire Fighters will be on hand accepting new, unwrapped toys from Parade goers. Toys are especially needed for the teens and tweens. Oakville Mazda, one of the Parade's Gold Sponsors, is the official dropoff location for the Toy Drive. Can't make it to the Parade? Drop your donation off at 1291 Speers Rd. anytime 'til November 24th. Kids of all ages will want to buy their "red noses" from the Fun Group of Family and Friends of Falgarwood, who are donating all proceeds to the Oakville Parade Child Center. This group is the only authorized seller of red noses ­ don't buy your red nose from anyone else. Canada Post volunteers will take part in the Parade, collecting letters to Santa and ensuring he receives them well in advance of Christmas. Don't worry about parking, ride on Santa's Shuttle Bus! The free Santa Shuttle runs every 15 minutes from the Oakville GO Station stopping at all regular stops along Reynolds to the downtown Church/Dunn bus terminal. The Santa Shuttle, provided by Oakville Transit, will run from 8 11:15 am ­ watch for the signs at the Oakville GO. Additional transit info is available on the Parade website. Please note for safety reasons, children must be removed from strollers and/or wagons while on the bus. Strollers must be folded and wagons put in an upright position.
