JOHNSON, Bruce - June 4, 1931 ­ December 6, 2007. True to his wish, Bruce died peacefully at Ian Anderson House after a short battle with cancer. As always he never swayed from his ever positive and never give up attitude. He was a truly great husband, dad, papa and friend. Bruce will be missed by all who knew him, especially Joan Johnson (Farley) his wife and lifetime love for 55 years; a devoted and loving father to Ned (Rachelle), Martha, Paul (Sam), Ian (Audrey) and Leanne (Ron); proudest Papa to Heather, Christianne, Erin, Stephanie and Juliana; and his beloved Annie. He will be greatly missed by his identical twin brother Doug (Jane) with whom he shared a spiritual and unique bond, and his extended family: Jean and the late Stewart Farley (London), Richard and Liz Farley (Wilmot Creek) and David Farley (Montreal); his many wonderful nieces and nephews; his chosen family of many wonderful friends; and the many colleagues and clients that he touched over the years. Bruce adored his four-legged companions Annie, Mozart, Taxi, Jake, Burley, Tuffy, Hobbs, Patches, Roxy, Marley and Phish. An avid golfer, gardener, dog walker, hiker, traveler and patient shopper, he was one of a kind. Bruce was a proud member of the provincial champion East York Goliaths basketball and football teams and went on to play football at U of T. Bruce recalled actually winning a game or two when he played at U of T. Professionally, he held senior management roles in three multinational organizations before becoming a pioneer in Career Consulting and Outplacement Services in Canada as a partner with KPMG Career Consulting. A long time resident of Oakville he volunteered his time to organizations such as Rotary, Kiwanis, and Toronto Board of Trade to name a few. He and Annie volunteered their time for weekly visits to the Oakville Hospital. His love for golf found him actively involved as a Board member of the Oakville Golf Club. As his children grew up, Bruce spent much time at the Oakville Club where he held various Board positions. His caring and interest in others was evident when he was a member of the Board of Governors for the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. His family is forever grateful to his medical team of dedicated and compassionate care givers. Words could never express our appreciation to the Ian Anderson House family for their compassion and total first-class care of Bruce and the family during the last few weeks of his illness. We send a big hug and many thank yous to all staff and volunteers at Ian Anderson House. Bruce had an unrelenting optimistic attitude, engaging smile, and sparkle in his eye that will always be remembered with lots of love and never forgotten.
