Extending a helping hand to the north By Angela Blackburn OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF A trio of Oakville families is gazing north this holiday season and hope others will join them. The families have created Project North Bound to support children in Sanikiluaq, Nunavut through their friend Wayne Dziedzic who has operated Wayne's Custom Upholstery here for 26 years. Early in January, the families will be sending children's books, art supplies, skates, hockey equipment and more, along "The residents of Sanikiluaq, Nunavut are excited that the people of Oakville, Ontario have taken a special interest in their community." Alix Scott with Dziedzic, to the isolated community located in the Belcher Islands (southeast part of Hudson Bay). "We are still requesting donations through Jan. 1, 2008 and would welcome any support that the Oakville community could give this worthwhile project," said Oakville resident Alix Scott. "In true `Canadian Holiday Spirit,' this project has benefited everyone who has participated by helping us get to know our fellow Canadians in the north.
