Lori Sims, an active participant in the Ontario Library community for many years and most recently as OPL Director of Customer Services, took over the reigns of the library as of Jan. 1. Sims replaces Eleanor James, who retired from the OPL at the end of 2007 after 23 years as CEO of the library. "I am very pleased to be taking up the leadership of the Library at this exciting time of community growth and change," Sims said. "I have been a professional librarian for over 20 years, and I have always admired Oakville Public Library's quality collections, excellent children's programs, dedicated customer service and innovative ways of delivering service." The new CEO brings with her extensive experience and knowledge of strategic planning, branch development and community service.
