Katherine Barber, editor-in-chief of the Canadian Oxford Dictionary will entertain members of the CFUW-Oakville at the annual general meeting and dinner at the Oakville Golf Club on Sixth Line at 7 p.m. Barber is a Canadian lexicographer and editor-in-chief of the award-winning and best-selling Canadian Oxford Dictionary. She has been with the Canadian division of Oxford University Press since 1991, and is well known for her lively talks on the history of English. Barber is a regular guest on radio and television and has written several books on language. Six Words You Never Knew Had Something to Do With Pigs was on the Maclean's bestseller list for 14 weeks in 2006. In March 2007, Only in Canada You Say, A Treasury of Canadian Language, was published. Barber has also overseen several editions of Oxford dictionaries, including the Oxford Canadian Spelling Bee Dictionary. The CFUW's AGM is the final scheduled event of the 2007/08 program.
