www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday June 27, 2008 - 41 House is loved: homeowner www.oakvillebeaver.com Continued from page 40 The third place living room actually comes first for Monkhouse. The room stands apart from the others in design due to its Asian influence, found in the Japanese cherry blossom print fabric used on the window treatments and cushions. The homey room is filled with antiques, such as the family's upright piano. "When I walked through the door, this was the first room I saw and I was in love," Monkhouse said. "When I come down the stairs in the morning, I look at everything, from the fabric on the couch to the photos and I remember why this is my favourite room." After four years, there is only one room remaining before the interior is completely decorated. One of the couple's three children is grown up and no longer lives in the house, so the empty bedroom is being transforming into a television room. "A lot of people think decorating can be done in three months like it is on TV, but it is really an evolution," Rinaldi said. "One room gets done, and the personality of that one leads to the next room. It is really a long, thoughtful process. It is a labour of love." Rinaldi describes the style of the house as "modern antique." Although the judges have clearly indicated she demonstrates a knack for this look, she refuses to be defined by a single style. "In this case, I really took into account the personality of the house," Rinaldi said. "I've done everything from ultramodern to Victorian to country, so I adapt to what the client wants because when I leave, the client has to live there. I want it to be perfect for their tastes and their lifestyle." For information on Gloria Rinaldi's designs, contact her at 905-858-7661 or e-mail grinaldi@rogers.com. The show follows five ladies who are waiting in anticipation and in line for aerobics classes at a local Toronto community centre. They vary in age and live different lifestyles, but they come together in force of femininity and reality about sex, relationships, media and movement. The actors perform the show while standing in a line, this serves both as a cheap set design and a metaphor to real life needs and desires. This comedy includes nudity, strong language and perspectives. The show runs from July 3 to 13 at Royal St. George, 120 Howland Ave. Tickets cost $10. For tickets or information, call the Fringe Hot-Line at 416966-1062 or visit www.fringe.com.
