I was particularly moved by a grand lady in a long dress and beautiful straw hat who quietly arranged her twenty dollar bill in the glass jar to motivate others to give more. Of course it was great to see Canada Day festivities and fireworks. Lots of fun and people getting together. My grandmother always says that we elephants in our herd must support each other. That's how we work as our very own small society, making sure we all find grass or bushes to eat and water to drink each day, and ward off lion attacks. That got me to thinking about $MOMO and the grassroots efforts coming together to ease the pain of HIV/AIDS in Africa by supporting the Stephen Lewis Foundation. Did you know that since 2003, the Foundation has funded more than 250 projects in 15 African countries, projects that provide care to women who are ill and struggling to survive, assist orphans and other AIDS-affected children, support grandmothers and the children in their care, and sustain networks of people living with HIV and AIDS. $MOMO efforts include many individuals and organizations working together too. I can hardly wait for the Community Artists Yard Sale on September 6th at various community churches. Gillian Zimmerman is organizing the Amazing Race Against Time on Sept. 28.
