"We are thrilled to be again offering one of the best fine arts festivals in the country and are excited this year about many new additions, including the Trafalgar Brewing Company's Beer Garden," said John Edge, the Oakville Art Society president. "As the only art society in the country that doesn't take government funding, our continual growth is possible thanks to the support of this tremendous community, our outstanding volunteers and talented artists." Featuring more than 150 artists and artisans from across the country, the 2007 event attracted thousands of people to the Bronte waterfront. Artists were selected by a jury process. "Visitors to the 2008 show will see the return of some of the same artists as in previous years, as well as some new ones, who have never participated before," said Sabine Frisch, Oakville Art Society administrator. "There is no doubt that the Art in the Park Festival is an important show, and event, for Bronte," Frisch said. Every medium is represented, from traditional oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings to glass, ceramics, textiles, photography, mixed media, sculptures and fine jewelry. The event covers the full range of the arts. Art in the Park is alive with some artists demonstrating in their booths or at the Oakville Art Society demonstration area. Visitors will get to meet the artists and learn about their motivation and excitement about the works they have created. Another much-anticipated aspect of the event this year is the return of Trafalgar Brewing Company that will be providing food and refreshments at a beer garden right on the grounds. "We think this is a great event for all of Oakville and we are excited to be a part of it this year," said Mike Arnold, president of Trafalgar Brewing Company. Art in the Park is located at Heritage Waterfront Park, Bronte Road at Ontario Street. Admission is $3 at the gate. The Oakville Art Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting art and art appreciation in the community.
