Talented and motivated, these students from Holy Trinity Catholic High School debuted their third feature film, The Nature of Choice. It is, to date, the longest running one yet at one hour and 15 minutes. It debuted at the Encore movie theatre in Oakville. On July 30, Miguel Barbosa, Richard Filc, Jake Manley, Luciano Capasso and Trevor Blades watched as their movie played for the first time in front of an audience of about 200 people, many of whom were friends and family. The theatre was abuzz with anticipation, and there was pride in the hoots and hollers from the audience as a character they personally knew came on the big screen. The idea behind the film was first conceived by Richard Filc, who plays Professor Everett in the film, a teacher who is asked to speak to a high school psychology class about the cause and effects of life. The idea was later developed more fully with friend and colleague, Miguel Barbosa. "We were in New York at the time, and we got into various dis- "You learn through experience and doing it. Barbosa and Manley, both of whom have a strong interest in filmmaking, created the company, Yeah Films. In the summer of their Grade 8 year, they had developed the idea of Yeah Pictures, a term taken from the token slang word used by their friends that summer. Later, Yeah Pictures was turned into Yeah Films, a not yet legallyrecognized company, but Manley does own the rights to www.yeahfilmscompany.com. Barbosa and Filc wrote the script for the Nature of Choice, with Filc writing all the dialogue for the part of his own character Professor Everett, while Barbosa wrote the dialogue for the remaining characters. The cast consisted of 13 actors, with both Filc and Barbosa playing vital roles.
