Doug will be dearly missed by his three daughters Carolyn, Nancy (Kevin) and Janice (Murray). The youngest of eight children, he will be fondly remembered by his surviving sisters, brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews and friends. Doug was a pioneer in the field of recreation; his career spanned 40 years in Stratford, Oshawa and Bowmanville. He was Director of Parks and Recreation for the Town of Oakville for 27 years. Doug was best known for his dedication and his development of the community's parks and recreation programmes. A service to celebrate Doug's Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2008 at Hopedale Presbyterian Church, 156 Third Line, Oakville following a visitation at the church from 1-2:45 p.m. A fund has been set up in Doug's memory for donations towards the beautification of Oakville's parks.
