Together with valued clients, business partners, family and friends, the staff of Lockwood Chrysler honoured Jay Lockwood, the man who made it all possible. With the showroom transformed into an elegant dining space complete with tables and white tablecloths, the 60 guests enjoyed a gourmet lunch catered by The Mixed Grille. Representatives from local media, RBC, Chrysler Financial and Chrysler Canada all showed up to congratulate the Lockwood team and joined in the festivities. As loyal staff members (who seem more like family members) spoke about their personal experiences at the dealership and with Jay Lockwood, tears and laughs were shared. It was clear to see this business operates more like a family - and that's a big part of their continued success since Jay acquired the business in 1983. After initial success in 83, Lockwood Chrysler built a new dealership in 1985 at their present location at 175 Wyecroft Rd., Oakville, and in 2002 after further growth, major expansions and renovations were completed, making Lockwood the impressive dealership it is today. Currently Lockwood Chrysler offers a 20 bay service centre, three bay drive-thru, a car wash and a showroom that can hold up to 16 vehicles. For the past 25 years, the service department has opened its doors every morning at 7 a.m., ready to serve the community with a smile. The little extras are what make Lockwood special. Every car that gets serviced receives a car wash and a shuttle is always available for added convenience to each client. "We've always felt that having your vehicle in for service whether it's for scheduled maintenance or a break down isn't easy," explains Rob MacCallum General Manager, at Lockwood Chrysler. "We appreciate the customers' time so we have always put a lot of pressure on ourselves to get it done right and quickly." MacCallum has been a longstanding employee at Lockwood Chrysler. "The car business is in my blood. My father, with his partner established McCallum & Wilson Motors on Kerr Street in 1957, which then acquired the Chrysler Plymouth Franchise in 1963 and moved to a new larger location," explains MacCallum. "In 1983 they retired from the business and sold it to Jay Lockwood who took on the employees and guided the dealership to what it is today." ...And the rest is history. While Lockwood offers excellent service and quality workmanship and dedication, what sets them apart from the others is the 'small-town feel' is exudes. "Although we have grown to more than 50 full and part-time employees, we continue to maintain a friendly atmosphere," says MacCallum. "Customers should not be intimidated by the size of the dealership. We are very friendly from the sales staff to service staff, it is a team that enjoys working together." The Lockwood team always works with the customers' best interests at heart. "We've been here for 25 years and look forward to another 25, so you have to treat people well," says MacCallum.
