Morningstar will attempt to break 2,000 boards with various kick, strikes and punches to raise money for the Diabetes Hope Foundation. The foundation is a grassroots, non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance the lives of children and adolescents living with diabetes. It enables young children and teens to aspire to their full potential through education, self-management and future independence. In past years, the students of Morningstar Taekwon-Do have raised more than $45,000 for such charities as the Kidney Foundation, the Lung Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Children's Wish Foundation. The Diabetes Hope Foundation was chosen as this year's charity because a close friend of Morningstar's lost his wife during pregnancy due to complications caused from diabetes. Hopedale Mall's centre court will play host to this year's event. Rosehaven Homes has donated the wood for the event. Students of Morningstar Taekwon-Do will be canvassing throughout town to enlist people to donate to the cause. For more information, visit www.breakathon.ca. To donate, stop by Hopedale Mall on April 18 or call Morningstar Taekwon-Do at 905-847-8955.
