They took home Bronze in the Lower Lakes Atom AA Division, Silver in the London Devilettes Tournament and Gold in the Ottawa Bell Capital Cup (double OT). This is the first year the Hornets competed in the Novice B Divison and earned the nickname The Small and Mighty. The team took Gold in the Whitby Tournament of Heros and in the 28th Annual Walter Gretzky Tournament and Silver in the Lower Lakes Championship and at the Atom C Division in Belleville. The Flames emerged victorious at the Minor Bantam Red championship game on Thursday April 2 at Joshua's Creek arena. The Oakville Venom Major Atom AAA team after their Gold Medal win at the Ontario Basketball Championships in London, Ontario on March 29th, 2009. The girls completed their perfect season with a record of 49 wins and 0 losses and 9 tournament gold medals.
