OAKVILLE BEAVER Friday, September 25, 2009 · 42 Season opener Ice set to crack lid off season The Oakville Ice will open its Provincial Women's Hockey League intermediate AA season tomorrow (Saturday) with a grudge match against the team that eliminated the Ice from last season's playoffs. HOCKEYBRIEFS Oakville and the Hamilton Hawks will face off at 4:30 p.m. at Joshua's Creek Arenas. The Hawks defeated Oakville 3-1 in the opening round of the 2009 postseason. This is the first season the Ice will be playing its home games at Joshua's Creek Arenas. The team has previously played its home contests at Canlan Ice Sports. After tomorrow's opener, Oakville will then visit the Mississauga Chiefs Sunday for a 4:15 p.m. start. Josh Ranalli, Nick Scamurra and Gregg Gibson particularly impressed Blades GM Carlo Coccimiglio with their play. Ranalli had a pair of goals while Scamurra and Gibson each recorded two-point evenings. Daniel Savelli picked up the win in goal.
