Dying with Dignity workshop Friday Dying with Dignity -- a discussion on end of life issues and a workshop on creating a living will will be held Friday, Oct. 23. Hosted by the Halton-Peel Humanist Society (HPHC), the free event is at 7 p.m. in the Acorn Grill at Oakville Town Hall, 1225 Trafalgar Rd. Guest speaker is Ruth von Fuchs, president of the Right to Die Society. There will also be discussion of the private member's Bill C-384 on the topic. The meeting is open to all and involves a topic organizers believe is not well understood or approached by society, but which has major implications for wellbeing and the health care system. The legal liabilities of caregivers and medical professionals preclude them from making any significant decisions on a person's behalf. If you approach the world from a scientific analytic position without the use of supernatural entities; act with compassion and accept responsibility for your acts of commission and of omission, you are likely a humanist. HPHC is part of the Humanist Association of Canada and meets on the third Tuesday of each month for socializing and discussion. For more information about Fuchs, visit www.righttodie.ca.
